A road bike is what is used by racers that you see on television competing in “tours” across different countries such as France, Italy, Spain, the US, etc. Road bikes are built for speed: they have a light weight frame, drop (downward curve) handle bars, and multiple gears (usually 14 or more), narrow tires, and an aerodynamic riding position.
